Health is top priority for everyone, and what best way to start than early? Healthy weight loss for kids is advisable for parents who have kids that are slightly on the heavy side. There are a lot of reasons why children become obese at such a young age. Since they crave different foods and love fast foods, it is most likely that they gain weight. Parents also love to spoil they children and one of the most common ways is through food.

The healthiest weight loss tip for a kid is for him to become active. Engaging in sports or daily activities like jogging will surely help your kid lose weight. If your kid gets tired easily, then think of other ways to motivate him to exercise. You could make him join clubs that have sports or let him play around with other kids in the neighborhood.

It also helps to watch your kid’s meal. Make him cut back on junk food and replace it with healthier alternatives like crackers. Kids are also hard to please at times, so it could be helpful to change their diets gradually. The best way to start is through your kid’s lunch box. Replace the unhealthy foods with fruits and remove sweets like candies and chocolates.

The hardest part of healthy weight loss for kids would probably be motivation and explaining to them why they should lose weight. As a kid, you want to enjoy the best foods and pig out because you enjoy it. Most kids are not self-conscious unless they reach a certain age. Parents need to explain that weight loss is needed to be done not only for the physical benefits but also to help prevent diseases.

When helping children lose weight, slow weight loss is the best way to go. More often than not, kids won’t feel that they are deprived and will get used to the diet easier. Behavioral changes are also advisable for healthy weight loss. Eating and sleeping habits need to be modified. The time spent watching TV or playing computer games should be spent playing sports. There are even video games that allow your kids to move around just so they have movement.

Encourage kids to hydrate and drink more water and avoid juices and soda. This will make them feel less hungry and will help speed up metabolism. Don’t forget the healthy drinks like milk before sleeping or during breakfast, as this will keep their bones strong.

Take your kids to grocery shopping with you and explain to them the effects of eating healthy and unhealthy foods. This way, they will get better ideas on what the healthy foods are and the types of food that they should avoid.

The last tip for healthy weight loss for kids would be to set a good example. As they say, practice what you preach. If you let your child engage in sports, exercise with him. Show him that you’re also eating the healthier alternatives and cutting back on high-calorie foods. Make sure that the weight loss is a fun and healthy process.

3 Stars Worth the listen
This audio is packed with good information but the plan is too extreme for most anybody to follow. Yes! you will lose weight if you eat like a caveman … I think most people figured that out on their own. Its hard to take advice from someone who has never been overweight. It does however give detailed information how the body uses different foods and what to avoid in your diet. Worth it if you want to loose weight or just want to eat healthier. I used bit and pieces of this info with my own exercise plan to loose my last 25 lbs. and at age 50 I feel great at my desired weight!

4 Stars very empowering
This book has changed my life. It has enlightened me. I am more aware of what I eat, how I eat and the nutrients of the food I eat. I lost about 15 pounds right away. I have since then gained a little back, but am in better shape and have more energy. I would recomend this book be a household staple.

5 Stars Great tool
The Ultrametbolism eating plan is pretty commonplace and straightforward. I found the section on weightloss myths very informative, but in my opinion, the most valuable part of the book are the keys to weightloss along with the quizzes to help you identify which ones may be an issue for you.

Based on my quiz scores, I started taking the supplements recommended for that specific problem area, and with the help of the supplements, I was able to quickly break my sugar addiction and start losing weight rapidly.

1 Star saw this guy on Martha – sugar doesn’t cause ADHD
saw this guy on Martha – sugar doesn’t cause ADHD

he’s not a good scientist. so many of the claims he makes are overblown to give heft to his arguments. too much extrapolation – takes a simple point or statement about one group and applies to everyone when not appropriate…

finally, he presents NOTHING NEW in this book

5 Stars No Worries
The book arrived much faster then I predicted and in great shape – I have nothing negative to say – it was easy!

Eat Right 4 Your Type The Individualized Diet Solution to Staying Healthy Living Longer and Achieving Your Ideal Weight

Proposes that a person’s blood type can both influence health and explain individuals’ reactions to foods, and presents four different plans, based on blood type, for diet, exercise, and good health.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars The most common sense book that I have ever read about human health.
You may not like what you read, and this is not an easy read, but the facts are the facts. We are all complex electro-chemical beings, with ever changing chemistry. But the most common thing we can share, is whatever is within our blood type. Any chemical reactions that may occur, between the same two or more substances, will typically react the same way, all else being equal. So it makes the most sense that different blood types will react differently with different foods and drinks etc, but within the same blood types, we can expect similar results of those foods and drinks etc. I have found, that if you follow this book’s recommendations, that you will lead a healthier life. It’s all about keeping your PH on the positive side, around 7.5, and following this book, helps anyone to do just that.

1 Star ABO Blood groups have NOTHING to do with diet!
Despite the popularity of this book, it’s core premises are wrong. Blood types evolved as a result of exposure to different types of infectious disease pathogens in different parts of the world. The authors can cite all the supposed research they want – at the end of the day, you’re wasting your money on a diet plan that is based on zilch.

5 Stars Awesomest Book Ever
I totally love this book. As soon as I everything about my blood type as started following everything on it so yes, yes, and well yes I recomended to anyone who wants to be healthy and loose weight.

5 Stars Great service
I received the book that I ordered in a timely manner and in great condition.

5 Stars An Eye Opener
Finally! A real explanation of the phrase “You are what you eat”. Let Dr. D’Adamo take you the evolution of the different blood types and explain why it is important to feed ourselves the foods that our blood can accept as friends, not enemies, after digestion. You will be amazed at how sensible it is and how fast you will feel (and see) the difference that eating right for your type can make. Stop dieting; just eat well!

Free Radicals, Anti-oxidants and Your Health

March 1st, 2009

Antioxidants are very important to combat damage to cells, they aid in the prevention of cancer, aging, and many diseases. The scientific community has begun to make headway understanding the purpose that antioxidants serve in our diets and how they affect our health.

Free radicals are atoms or groupings of atoms with an odd number of electrons. They form when oxygen mixes with specific molecules. Once free radicals have formed, they are able to begin a chain reaction. Free radicals can cause damage in the body when they react with other vital cellular workings such as DNA, or cell membranes. If this occurs it may cause the affected cells to function weakly or in some cases cause death of the cell. The body has its very own preventative method of antioxidants to destroy free radicals and prevent free radical damage from occurring.

Antioxidants are molecules that safely work together with free radicals and stop the chain reaction before important molecules suffer damage. There are a few different enzymes inside the body that can located free-radicals, the primary vitamin antioxidants are vitamin E, vitamin C and beta-carotene. Also it should be noted that the chemical element selenium, which is a trace metal necessary for proper function of one of the few antioxidant enzyme systems, can and is sometimes incorporated into this category. The body cannot manufacture these micronutrients so they must be supplied in the diet.

Vitamin E : Is perhaps one of the most important vitamins that the body needs, it is a fat soluble vitamin found in many different foods. Some examples of foods with vitamin E are nuts, seeds, vegetables, fish oils, whole grains, and apricots. The recommended daily allowance for women is 12IU and for men per day the allowance is 15 IU.

Vitamin C : Also called Ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is a vitamin most commonly known for its presence in citrus fruits and juices. It can also be found in high doses in green peppers, broccoli, spinach, cantaloupe, cabbage, kiwi, and strawberries. The recommended daily allowance is 60 mg. Some negative side effects have been associated with an intake above 2000 mg per day. It is best to always consult your health care provider if you have any concerns about the dosage that is right for you.

Beta-carotene: Is a derivative of vitamin A. Foods that contain vitamin A are liver, egg yolk, butter, milk, carrots, spinach, squash, broccoli, yams, peaches, tomato, cantaloupe, and grains. The body converts vitamin A to beta-carotene and because of this transition there are no set requirements. It should be noted that Vitamin A by itself has no antioxidant properties and has the potential to be toxic when taken in large amounts.

Antioxidants and a healthy daily diet combined with enough exercise can help reverse the negative effects of free radicals. It is important to follow a daily diet that promotes regular exercise combined with 5 servings of fruits or vegetables daily. By following a balanced diet this will guarantee that you are building up your antioxidant systems inside your body and that your diet is allowing the formation of free radical fighting antioxidants. If you are one of the many “weekend warriors” you may want to consider a balanced approach to exercising. If you are unable to exercise regularly supplements may be a good addition to your diet. Make sure to not over-supplement and follow the recommended doses!

All natural products are a great alternative to traditional supplements; one product you may be interested to try if you are going to join the battle against free radicals is Resveratrol. Resveratrol is concentrated to give you powerful antioxidant support and help to slow the natural aging process. The power of antioxidants can help reduce the risks of disease such as cancer and type-2 diabetes!
