Will Isolated Systolic High Blood Pressure Affects Health?

December 28th, 2009

Blood Pressure is understandably a major concern for many people. I personally, battled it and have spent more hours researching and developing treatment for it than I or my wife (who’s really smart by the way) could ever count.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is usually considered a reading over 140/90. 120/80 to 139/89 is considered pre-hypertension. The top number is called the systolic which is considered high if it is 120 or above.

Two Thirds of people who have blood pressure are in the age range of sixty-five Is this important? This number is considered to be conservative by some experts. And also most of the people who are the range of age over 50 or older have pre-hypertension.

The heart gets too much strain by high blood pressure if it is left untreated. It can lead to atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. This can lead to heart attack or stroke.

In addition to the heart being affected by high blood pressure, high blood pressure can also lead to kidney disease and even blindness.

The force of the blood through the arteries as the heart beats are measured by the Systolic reading. The force of the blood in the arteries as the heart “rests” is called as diastolic pressure. The diastolic pressure reading need not be high for one to have high blood pressure when the systolic reading is high. This situation is called isolated systolic high blood pressure.

One should keep in mind that as we age, the diastolic reading will fall. But Both numbers are important for a correct diagnosis of high blood pressure. Therefore, it is very important to know the number of systolic pressure.

You should consult your doctor to know if you have high blood pressure. He or she makes a blood pressure test to let you know.

The reason why High blood pressure and heart disease are called as “silent Killers” is you will not feel any bad symptoms to have high blood pressure. Mostly by the time a person knows something is wrong to him, that person is having a heart attack or stroke.

For those of you, who are concerned that your doctor will simply prescribe medicine to lower your blood pressure and you are concerned about the very real and potentially very serious side effects of the medication, express your concerns to your doctor.

This will not make sure that the doctors will stop prescribing. There is some blame on many western doctors. Even though it’s not their fault.

Their concern is that their patients won’t follow through on advice to lose weight, stop smoking, drink alcohol in moderation only, and follow an exercise and breathing program. Who can blame them? It’s hard for many of us, especially older adults with a lifetime of bad habits to break them.

I can recommend my High Blood Pressure program If you have high blood pressure or you have pre-hypertension. I have got awesome response for my entire natural program that contains exercise for breathing relaxation. The living example is me. I myself healed my blood pressure using this program.

In fact, I have had hundreds of clients who have been on high blood pressure medication (with those nasty side effects) for years. After starting my program, their blood pressure immediately started to lower and in time, they were able to get off the medication altogether.

Be Heart Wise for Every Minute of Your Life, Heart Care Tips

December 12th, 2009

It is a well known cardiac stimulates and stimulates the muscles of the heart to function effectively and supply blood to all parts of the body. It helps in lowering the blood cholesterol level and prevents blockage of the arteries of the heart.

The above medications are just a few that your doctor can prescribe for you according to your heart condition. The heart is one of the most vital organs in our body. That is why taking medications are a very serious matter. This could prevent your heart from functioning.

It refers to the blocking of the vessels that supply blood to the heart because of the clots that obstruct the normal flow of blood. That eventually leads to heart attack. I knew a man who was not of the wisest nature and whenever he travels on his short weekend trips would take all of us heart medication on Friday afternoon so he would not have to take them with him.

Home Remedies for Heart Care: –

• Consuming amla daily is the best remedy to avoid heart problems.
• Lemon consumption daily helps in dissolving the plaques that are formed in the arteries.
• Juice of beet is an effective remedy for treating heard related disorders.
• Consuming two pieces of garlic everyday in boiled milk is good for your heart care.
• Intake of parsley tea helps in preventing heart troubles
• Grapes juice is highly recommend as it tones up the heart muscles and helps in resolving heart problems.
• Apple is an excellent heart stimulant and it tones up the heart muscles.
• Consuming a good amount of vitamin E in the diet also helps in preventing heart troubles.
• Brisk walk every day and every day exercise helps in reducing risk of heart troubles.
• Don’t smoke as it weaken the arte

The first time he proclaimed that the room went round and he was dizzy for a while. This did not stop him the next time he did this when he stood up his heart stopped. Yes, the man died at the age of 55 years simply because he mismanaged his medications. Please only take what your doctor recommends and only as it is prescribed.

Following are the cause that causes heart ailments: –

• Hypertension
• Deficiency of vitamin B
• Over weight or obesity also leads to heart problems.
• Blood clot formation which is also known as thrombosis
• Hardening of blood vessels
• Leading sedentary life style

Change your life style: –

1. Stop smoking. Smoking is one of the biggest risk factors for developing heart disease. Smoking doubles the risk of sudden cardiac death. Yet smokers who quit see a relatively quick payoff in health: the heart attack risk drops to the rate of a non-smoker roughly two years after a smoker quits.

2. Watch your weight. Eat balanced meals and limit animal and other saturated fats. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat more poultry and fish and less beef, pork and lamb. Use margarine or cooking oils such as corn oil and sunflower oil marked “high in polyunsaturated.” Reduce your total fat intake.

3. Get plenty of exercise. The good news is that you don’t have to be an Ironman triathlete to achieve worthwhile benefits to your health. There’s growing evidence that as little as 10 minutes of exercise, three times a day can reduce your chance of heart attack and stroke.

There are many ways and method you can choose to reduce the risk of heart disease. But in many ways, I believe having healthy life style can actually reduce the heart disease risk factors easily.

Sex is good for health

December 11th, 2009

If you thought the only benefit of sex was, well, pleasure, here’s some news for you. Making love is good for adults. And making love regularly is even better! Not only does it help you sleep well, relieve stress and burn calories, there are several other reasons why you need to have sex more often. Read this article and know how Sex is good for your health.

IMPROVES CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH
A recent study says that men who have sex more than twice a week, had lesser risk of getting a heart attack than men who had sex less than once a month.

REDUCES STRESS
Stressed out with work or family problems? Don’t let it affect your performance in the bedroom. Not only will having sex improve your mood, but a study has proved that folks who indulge in regular bedroom activities can handle stress better and are happier people generally.

RELIEVES PAIN
If you’re using your headache as an excuse not to make love, stop doing it. Just when you’re about to have an orgasm, the level of the hormone – oxytocin, increases by five times. The release of endorphins reduces aches and pains.

PROMOTES LONGEVITY
When one has an orgasm, a hormone called Dehydroepiandrosterone is released, which improves your immunity and keeps the skin healthy. Men who have at least two orgasms a week live longer than men who have sex just once every few weeks.

INCREASES BLOOD CIRCULATION
Because your heart rate increases while having sex, fresh blood is supplied to your organs and cells. While used blood is removed, you also discard things from your body that cause you to feel tired.

YOU SLEEP BETTER
Notice that just after you make love, you get a much relaxed sleep thereafter. A good night’s sleep will make you healthy overall.

IMPROVES OVERALL FITNESS
If you find going to the gym mundane or working out at home a task, here’s another way to help you lose the flab and keep in shape. Regular sex will do wonders for your waistline. Half an hour of love making burns more than 80 calories! Hope these reasons are motivating enough.

The Emotional Recovery from a Heart Attack

November 24th, 2009

Copyright (c) 2009 Stephen Lau

A heart attack is one of the most devastating and traumatic experiences in life. At least 1.5 million Americans suffer a first or recurrent heart attack every year. Heart attacks are often an indication of advanced coronary heart disease, which is the Number One cause of death in the United States. Attacks occur when oxygen is unable to be delivered to some parts of the heart due to blockage in one or more of the coronary arteries.

Unfortunately, about half a million of those suffering from heart attacks do not survive. And those who are lucky enough to survive may also undergo emotional turmoil that affects their recovery from these attacks.

Indeed, many heart-attack survivors are beset by the emotional feeling of fear – fear of imminent death or fear of a recurrent attack soon. The fear may become so obsessive that they become oversensitive of even the smallest tinges in their bodies. For some, the fear has become so real that they are afraid of being left alone – and this often becomes an emotional anguish for themselves as well as their spouses and loved ones who take care of them.

A heart attack is often an emotional awakening to the frailty of health, or the reality of death. The realization of human mortality is similar to that experienced by the elderly as they approach their inevitable end. Although the confrontation with death can be motivating for some who subsequently decide to embark on a new lifestyle to improve their overall health, the realization of the mortality of life can be debilitating to the majority of survivors. This lack of motivation on many heart-attack survivors may interfere with the rehabilitation process, and thus making them more vulnerable to future attacks.

Most heart-attack survivors also undergo a phase in which they are angry with themselves about their attacks. One common scenario is that they may become angry even at those who are trying to help them. Another scenario is that they may feel injustice, such as “why me?”

In short, heart-attack survivors have to recover not only from the coronary heart disease itself but also from the emotions associated with a heart attack. Depression is common among heart-attack survivors. Accordingly, spouses and family members have to be more understanding of their mood swings and emotional outbursts in order to help them on the road to recovery from heart attacks.

A positive outlook of life may be the best remedy against depression and other distressing emotions. Self-reflection is able to promote positive lifestyle changes, which are critical to long-term recovery from heart attacks. It is important that being granted “a second chance in life” should become the driving force to learn valuable life lessons from a heart attack.

It is understandable that heart-attack survivors may still have lingering doubts and fears, but time resolves most feelings of anger, anxiety, fear, or depression. Once emotional recovery begins, recovery from a heart attack will duly follow, if accompanied by positive changes in lifestyle.

Tai Chi For Health (part 1 of 2)

November 1st, 2009

Tai Chi health benefits are a bit of a mystery to most people in the Western world who have not been exposed to Tai Chi. Also,Tai Chi health benefits have been mysticised (sp) quite a bit as a result. Tai Chi health benefits include benefits to the mind, body and spirit.

Tai Chi health benefits for the mind are an easier concept for most people to grasp and are understood a little better in our culture due to our modern day emphasis on stress relief. As a result when most people think of Tai Chi health benefits they think of the stress relief as Tai Chi has been widely used in America as a stress reliever. All you have to do is watch the slow, smooth, calm and peaceful movements or sit in on a class and you begin to relax and forget your troubles.

A simple way to begin to understand Tai Chi health benefits is to think of the negative effects of stress and the positive benefits of relieving that stress. There are many studies available now that explain the negative physiological effects of stress in detail. In a nutshell they include but are not limited to a greater propensity to get sick and a shortened life span as well as a reduced quality of life. Also, stressed people generally tend to sleep less (upping the likelihood of getting sick due to a compromised immune system) and eat more.

So, Tai Chi benefits health quite directly by helping the individual to relax and unwind. This means that Tai Chi health benefits include better protection against getting sick, better sleep, a longer life and a better quality of life. On the surface this sounds like a bit of a stretch but the math is quite simple. One of the Tai Chi health benefits is lower blood pressure. I say this because I have had many older students come back from a regular Drs visit (annual check-up) and tell me that the Dr told them that their blood pressure had improved dramatically from prior visits. This in itself lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Often people doing research on Tai Chi look for measurable data to find out the secret to Tai Chi health benefits and there is measurable data to be found. However, I think this Tai Chi health benefit is simple. Generally, higher stress means higher blood pressure and less stress means lower blood pressure. There can be other causes and factors to consider but stress is known as a high killer of people for a reason.

Some Tai Chi health benefits are a direct result / effect of improved skeletal alignment and posture. Back pain is one of the number one untreated and undiagnosed medical problems that most people suffer from. The back pain can be and sometimes is due to an injury but more often than not it is simply due to many years of bad or / and improper posture. In Tai Chi the back is aligned very straight and practice involves very correct posture from the beginning to the end of the set.

If you do not have very correct skeletal alignment you are not receiving much of the physical aspect of Tai Chi health benefits. Unfortunately, in recent years I have worked with many serious students of Tai Chi who come to me after hitting a dead-end in their current practice of the art and who are unable to attain the higher level skills of Tai Chi and are not receiving much of the better known Tai Chi health benefits. The first thing I usually find I have to teach them is correct structural and spinal alignment.

There are a number of reasons for this lack of Tai Chi health benefits and overall Tai Chi ability. One of them is that unfortunately many people will not diligently work their Tai Chi with an attention to proper alignment and often do not understand what they are trying to accomplish with proper alignment and body structure.

To be continued…

Sigung Richard Clear began teaching in 1985 and has over 30 years of continuous study in the arts. He openly teaches the “secrets” that the vast majority of Tai Chi masters only show behind closed doors to a very select few.
