Two Resveratrol Health Benefits That Will Surprise You – It Can Extend Your Life

September 28th, 2009

Who wants to know if all of the amazing anticipation and hope revolving around this super antioxidant is real… or just a bunch of hype? In this article we are going to take a closer and more insightful look at the power of this potent and potentially life changing compound, and see if the science is as sturdy as the sensationalism. Curious to know more? Great… continue reading as we take a closer look below!)

Okay… but is resveratrol as powerful as they promise? Or is it just a bunch of hot air?

Big Benefit #1: Reverastrol MAY Emulate the Effects of Calorie Restriction in the Body

What does this mean? Well, it simply means that you may be able to eat ANYTHING that you want, and still lose weight. Sound like science fiction? It very well may be… but MANY prominent scientists believe it’s could be true.

As a matter of fact, in a long term,15 year study just released in July of 2009, a caloric restriction diet has been touted as the ONLY life extension technology that has proven to extend the lives of just about every animal studied in the lab, including rhesus Monkeys, which closely resemble the genetic makeup of man.

As caloric restriction has been tough to accomplish for many people in advanced societies (as illustrated by our high obesity rates!) specific mention was made in many news outlets about the potential of resveratrol to “mimic” the effect of dieting, all while eating anything your heart (and body) desires!

Big Benefit #2: Some Studies Seem to Support Resveratrol Inhibits (or reverses) the Growth of Cancerous Cells

Contrary to much of the “hype”, we feel that There is MUCH work that remains to be done before this is proven to be conclusively true. But some of the studies seem to support that this IS in fact the case, as there has been a fair amount of publicly (and apparently peer reviewed) science that supports resveratrol acting as an inhibitor, or even destructive force in the growth of breast cancer cells, prostate cancer tumors, and much more.

Many prominent longevity experts and alternative wellness healers believe that anti-oxidants and natural agents that prevent oxidation in the body are the BIGGEST enemy of disease… so it should be no surprise that resveratrol is getting so much amazing attention these days, with only more assuredly to follow!

Resveratrol – The Latest Health Craze? Or Should We Be Taking Notice?

July 15th, 2009

Resveratrol. Not the easiest word to say (or spell!), but despite that, Resveratrol has been receiving a huge amount of attention from the press and TV lately.

Claims abound about the potential health benefits that Resveratrol can bring us, simply by introducing it into our diet.

So what is Resveratrol? And what is fuelling the interest in this substance?

Well, first of all, a bit of background might be helpful.

Many years ago, it was noticed that despite a diet which is relatively high in fat and alcohol (specifically red wine), the French generally suffer from a much lower incidence of heart disease than their American counterparts. This has puzzled scientists for years, since it seems to contradict our understanding of diet and it’s effect on our everyday health. High fat + alcohol should NOT reduce heart disease! This is what the scientists refer to as the “French Paradox”.

At the time, it was suspected that there might be some element of the typical French diet that was somehow protecting them from the negative effects of this diet, although at the time, no-one really had any idea what.

Fast forward to recent times, completely unrelated research discovered that a substance called “Resveratrol”, when tested on animals, can produce amazing improvements to health and longevity, and protect against a number of age-related illnesses, such as – you guessed it – coronary heart disease!

Now, Resveratrol is a natural substance, and can be found in many “red fruits”, such as red grapes. And, of course, red grapes are used to produce red wine – which, as we’ve said, makes up part of the typical French diet!

So, voila! It transpires that the Resveratrol found in red grapes, and subsequently in red wine, is what was protecting the French against the negative effects of their high-fat diet.

So, is it just a matter of consuming more red wine to get the benefits that Resveratrol brings?

Well, it has long been understood and advised that drinking a single glass of red wine per day (for adults, of course!) can be beneficial to your health, even before scientists really understood why.

However, animal test have shown that consuming greater amounts of Resveratrol can greatly increase its beneficial effects. But, as you can imagine, drinking several glasses of red wine a day in order to increase your Resveratrol consumption is not recommended!

Fortunately, nowadays, there are a number of Resveratrol supplements that you can get, which contain much higher concentrations of Resveratrol than you would find in red wine. In fact, some supplements contain an amount of Resveratrol that you would have to consume in excess of 100 glasses of red wine per day to obtain the same amount! Of course, this is neither practical, nor recommended.

There are now many scientific studies into Resveratrol, discovering new benefits of this natural substance.

It has been shown to dramatically increase life-expectancy, and to help protect against many age-related illnesses, such as cancer, alzheimers and heart disease. As well as strengthening the immune system, giving more energy, and slow down the overall effects of aging.

Resveratrol has also been shown to help in achieving fat reduction. And in an all-natural way. Our bodies contain a gene, called “sirtuin”, which is usually dormant. However, this gene is activated naturally when we go on a calorie-restricted diet. Activating this gene causes the body to go into “starvation mode”, and as a result the body becomes a very efficient “fat-burning” machine – causing the body to burn fat rather than storing it.

The great news is that Resveratrol has been shown to activate the “sirtuin” gene without the need to subject yourself to a calorie-restricted diet. And animal tests have shown that subjects get many of the benefits of following a calorie-restricted diet, such as a dramatically increased lifespan, and markedly improved general health, as a result.

There is a lot more to Resveratrol, and you can find more information on the subject at www.ResveratrolHealthReview.com including information about how to take advantage of some free Resveratrol offers.

Be healthy!

Resveratrol Health Benefits

June 17th, 2009

Resveratrol is a phytolexin produced in the plants especially in berries and grapes. Resveratrol is known to be the best red wine extract till date. Resveratrol is chemically an isomeric alcoholic compound that has a great effect on the aging skin. Resveratrol was firstly discovered in the roots of Japanese Knotweed.

Why It Is Healthy?

There are several reasons for the popularity of the Resveratrol Ultra:-

1. Best antioxidant potency – As we know red wine is absolutely loaded with antioxidants, mainly from the skin of grapes thus the potency of the anti oxidant is further increased as it is fermented.

2. Polyphenols – These are actual antioxidants and work to protect and prevent fat buildup in your arteries.

Why Resveratrol ultra Makes You Look Good?

Resveratrol is the best anti oxidant, naturally produced by the plants. Resveratrol is very effective in making the skin look young by fighting the free radicals. What you may not know, however, are some of the less known benefits. They include:

1. Low risk of obesity – Unfortunately a large number of the population is obese now, and the supplementation of Resveratrol may very well prevent this.

2. Reduced risk of blood clots in the arteries and veins of the heart- It prevents clots from forming which decrease your chances of stroke and heart disease.

3. Increased metabolism – Resveratrol activates certain proteins in your body that increase fat metabolism and help you safely lose weight.

4. It also tackles the growth of Alzheimer’s disease cells; it also treats pancreatic cancer as well.

The health benefits found in Red Wine

June 16th, 2009

According to the latest research, an ingredient called RESVERATROL which can be found in red wine has remarkable health benefits including cancer prevention and protection of the heart and brain from damage.

Low to moderate drinking – especially of red wine – appears to reduce causes of mortality, while too much drinking causes multiple organ damage.
According to professor Lindsay Brown from the University of Queensland: “Reports on the benefits of red wine are almost two centuries old.
Studies on the actions of resveratrol, one of the active non-alcoholic ingredients, were uncommon until research around 1997 showed prevention of cancers. This led to a dramatic interest in this compound.

Red wine contains a complex mixture of bioactive compounds, including flavonols, monomeric and polymeric flavan-3-ols, highly colored anthocyanins, as well as phenolic acids and the stilbene polyphenol, resveratrol. Brown said that some of these compounds, particularly resveratrol, appear to have health benefits. The resveratrol reduces age-related diseases such as inflammation, reverses diabetes and obesity and has many more remarkable benefits. Findings on resveratrol will be published in the September issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research.

We need to understand better the vast array of compounds that exist in nature, and determine their potential benefits to health.

The researchers found, as they had expected, that resveratrol treatment increased the expression of SIRT1 and stimulated the activity of AMPK in the livers of mice fed alcohol. They further found that the increased expression of SIRT1 and AMPK led to reduction of sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP-1), activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma co-activator alpha (PGC-1a), elevation of circulating adiponectin, a hormone produced by fat cells, which helps control obesity and enhanced expression of adiponectin receptors in the liver, which increases the effectiveness of the circulating adiponectin.

The findings suggest that resveratrol prevents alcoholic fatty liver by coordinating molecules that control fat metabolism. This prevents accumulation of fat in the mouse liver by both reducing the production of fat and burning off the fat that is there. Interestingly, the combination of alcohol with resveratrol appears to enhance the positive effects of resveratrol, said Dr. You, the study’’s senior author
